In their first game since dealing away Knicks killer Hamidou Diallo, the Thunder struggled mightily on offense against New York’s defense in the second half. Also without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Darius Bazley, and the still-recovering George Hill, Oklahoma City fought nobly as always and trailed just 56-54 at the half. But the magic wore off and the deep but raw OKC squad lacked any standouts aside from Al Horford (16 points on 7-9 from the floor) as the game got away from them for good in the third quarter. Horford and the Thunder defense he leads couldn’t contain Julius Randle–looking very much like an All-Star with a 26-point triple double–or RJ Barrett (32 points on 12-21 shooting).
