The Thunder went out in true 2020 fashion on New Year’s Eve. For the first time this season, Oklahoma City failed to reach triple-digits, falling 113-80 to the rising New Orleans Pelicans. Although it was a particularly close contest, there were spicy moments. Coach Daigneault and Hamidou Diallo both were assessed technical fouls, and Pelicans All-Star Brandon Ingram was ejected for a flagrant two late in the third due to contact with Isaiah Roby’s head.
After Ingram’s ejection, the Pelicans closed the game on a 36-14 run. Although he did not make it to the fourth quarter, Ingram was the leading scorer for New Orleans with 20, one of seven Pelicans in double figures. Al Horford led the way for the Thunder with 17 points. OKC did not do as well sharing the wealth as Horford was one of just two Thunder players in double-digits. The best part of the evening was Steven Adams’ return to the Peake,. The Thunder put this video out across their social media channels today:
The Thunder will be back in action on Saturday for a rematch with the Orlando Magic as they begin a five-game roadtrip. Until then, have a safe and much Happier New Year.
