KD talks Twitter, and Reggie Jackson

HOUSTON — Kevin Durant talked for a little more than five minutes following the Thunder’s shootaround at the Toyota Center on Thursday, and spent most of it explaining why he got on Twitter and tweeted about Twitter.

But before that, he was asked about Reggie Jackson’s increasingly uncomfortable situation, and if he’s felt the need to “put an arm around him” and discuss his role and future and such.

“We’re all professionals here, man. We know the nature of this game. It’s not day care. We’re not babying anybody here,” Durant said. “We all know that. Reggie is such a good professional. He knows that. He knows how to come to work every single day. He knows that him and Dion are going to have to play together, and Dion knows that. We’re not spending any of our energy on that type of stuff. It’s a professional game, it’s a business. So nah, we’re not going to do that.”

On the Twitter front, here’s how that went:

What do you have against Twitter?

“I just don’t like the motives sometimes, why people do stuff. But it’s not my problem.”

Something in particular that made you send out that message?

“Nah, I was just thinking. Just like everybody else thinks in their head about stuff. I was just thinking out loud, get some answers.”

Are you growing more frustrated with the nature of it?

“I’m not frustrated with it all about it. I’m a little baffled as why people use it and their motives behind it, but it doesn’t frustrate me at all.”

Is it tougher nowadays when fans and critics have constant access to you?

“It is when you first get on it. But after a while you know what people do it for. They just want a response. They just want to feel like they’re a part of your life. That’s what Twitter, it gives you that voice. I’m not saying that’s right or cool to do, but it is what it is, man. I’m not losing no sleep over what nobody says on Twitter. I’m not throwing myself a party when somebody tells me I’m doing good. So really who cares, that’s what I’ve learned. You’ve got to have tough skin towards it all. Because the good stuff will blow your head up and the bad stuff will put you in the ditch. So it don’t matter to me.”
