The Thunder exercised the team options on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Terrance Ferguson. Probably not that shocking of a decision.
Friday was Steven Adams Day and Steven Adams spent the day at Science Museum Oklahoma. Adams said he’s “obviously a fan of science.” Obviously.
Thunder players and coaching staff attended the Oklahoma Sooners’ drubbing of the West Virginia Mountaineers on Saturday.
With an eye toward the “affiliate player rule,” Oklahoma City signed Sedrick Barefield, Vincent Edwards, and Kadeem Jack and then waived them the same day. This rule allows the team to retain the rights of up to four players waived during training camp and assign them to the team’s G-League affiliate.
Luke Adams (Hoops Rumors) with an excellent summary of OKC’s offseason. Some stuff happened, I guess.
Zach Lowe published his “wild NBA predictions” and a trade of Adams and Dennis Schroder are among his prognostications. “By the time free agency quiets in July, the bet here is both are elsewhere. It might take that long for the center market to broaden, but Adams will draw interest.” On the other hand, Lowe believes Chris Paul sticks around the entire season.
Frank Isola (The Athletic) on Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant choosing the Brooklyn Nets over the New York Knicks: Irving and Durant were supposed to sign with the Knicks, but the pair’s decision to go to Brooklyn left New York “stunned and depressed.”
Something to think about: Andre Roberson, despite being “full go,” failed to register a single minute of court time this preseason. Roberson indicated that it was just a matter of easing into game shape, but is preseason not a good time to test your conditioning?
