Hey, everyone! It’s Alex Abrines! (5 minutes, 3 points)
Russell Westbrook notched triple-double #17.
I’ll admit, I’m overly optimistic when it comes to Westbrook. I’ve assumed he’d bust out of his struggles sooner than later, but here we are, close to the All-Star break, with some bumps in the road still. That being said, his burst has been obviously improved the last couple weeks. Me thinks this bodes well for the Thunder if he stays healthy down the stretch.
Good win in what could have been a trap game, especially without two starters. Thunder extended the winning streak to six in a row.
Schroder’s outburst was overshadowed by Paul George shooting the lights out in Miami: 43 points on 14-23 shooting. 10-16 from 3PT.
The 10 three-pointers are an OKC franchise record.
Man, this is great from Westbrook. George had missed three straight 3PT attempts. Russ steals the ball and finds PG to get him back on track. pic.twitter.com/ttcIOKAKaj
Here’s the 10th three. It’s so obvious PG is feeling it. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: How blessed are Thunder fans to see so many incredible seasons from future Hall-of-Famers? This George season gets more special every game.
Paul George 3PT Counter: ????????????????????????????????????????
George and Dwyane Wade exchanged jerseys after the game. I don’t hate the Thunder’s road blue uniforms as much as some people, but it’s safe to say Paul George won this trade.
Then the turnover happened. Ugh. As someone following the game on Twitter, Westbrook was absolutely roasted for it.
Should Billy Donovan have called a timeout? I was shocked he didn’t after the rebound.
Really liked the gamble by Kyrie to go for the steal that caused the Westbrook turnover. Just a good play by Irving and a bit of a hiccup for Westbrook.
I mean, that’s pretty darn good. Sometimes it feels like people are wanting Russ to score 30+, dish out 10+ assists, all while playing the best defense of his career.
Hate to see the winning-streak snapped, but it wasn’t that bad of a loss, all things considered.
Everything else:
The BIG3 announced Kendrick Perkins has entered their draft pool. I might have to see Young Hawg play some 3-on-3.
Kristaps Porzingis was traded to the Dallas Mavericks because Hey! The West wasn’t tough enough! That Zinger/Luka combo is going to be very fun to watch.
New York must be really confident they’re getting someone this offseason. Kevin Durant?
No Steven Adams in the All-Star Game. Tough break. I really wanted this, guys.
Check out Westbrook’s Why Not Zer0.2 kicks for the All-Star Game. They’re ugly and wild and I might get them:
The Thunder traded Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot and cash considerations to the Chicago Bulls. TLC will be missed, but I will not miss the thirty seconds it takes me to spell out his full name.
Hamidou Diallo was selected to replace Derrick jones Jr. in the 2019 Slam Dunk Contest. This should be a lot of fun and give Thunder fans something to invest in on All-Star Saturday night. I really like Diallo’s chances.
Speaking of which, Deonte Burton might need to make a Slam Dunk Contest appearance in the future:
