NBA suspends Metta World Peace seven games for elbow
The NBA announced late Tuesday that Metta World Peace has been suspended seven games for his elbow on James Harden.
With the Lakers only having one regular season game remaining, World Peace will miss all of the Lakers opening round series, unless it goes seven games.
“The concussion suffered by James Harden demonstrates the danger posed by violent acts of this kind, particularly when they are directed at the head area,” NBA Commissioner David Stern said in a statement. “We remain committed to taking necessary measures to protect the safety of NBA players, including the imposition of appropriate penalties for players with a history of on-court altercations.”
Harden is recovering from a concussion and will miss Oklahoma City’s game Tuesday against the Kings and is listed as day to day. His status for Wednesday’s game against the Nuggets or the playoffs ahead of that is still unknown.
