Guess what! Injuries. KD and Chet are joined by Bradley Beal and a buncha Suns and Alex Caruso and a buncha Thunder on the injury report tonight.
A Phoenix feast inside? Meh. Jusuf Nurkic is (likely) the latest big whose rebounding totals will spike in an OKC matchup. But the Thunder are happy to punt the boards battle if the starting opposing big continues to average scoring in the mid teens.
Small is still awesome. Maybe not historically awesome to the same degree as the early season Thunder were, but OKC is still going to win against most every team in the league, regardless of the height gap on the starting tip. With style. After the initial shock of losing Chet's mind-blowingly imposing interior defensive presence, Thunder fans are quickly remembering some of those modest small ball tradeoffs we've become accustomed to in recent years ain't so bad.
