Russell Westbrook & Paul George Named to 2017-18 All-NBA Teams
In a bit of good news in an otherwise disappointing 2017-18 season, Russell Westbrook and Paul George have both been named to All-NBA teams. Westbrook was named to the second team, with George landing on the third team.
Westbrook is coming off a campaign that saw him average a triple-double for the second consecutive season, posting a stat line of 25.4 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 10.3 assists per game. He received 24 first team votes, 63 second team votes, and 13 third team votes. This is the seventh time Westbrook has earned All-NBA honors — five second team appearances and two first team nods.
George is a bit of a surprise on the third team, but he averaged a solid 21.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2 steals per game. He was particularly deadly from beyond the arc, hitting 40 percent of his nearly eight attempts per contest. George received no first team votes, 4 second team votes, and 42 third team votes. He is All-NBA for the fourth time with all four being third team appearances.
The only other Thunder player to receive any votes was Steven Adams, who finished with two.
The complete teams and how the voting broke down:
First: LeBron James, James Harden, Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, Kevin Durant
Second: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Russell Westbrook, Joel Embiid, LaMarcus Aldridge, DeMar Derozan
Third: Stephen Curry, Victor Oladipo, Karl-Anthony Towns, Jimmy Butler, Paul George
