Season in Review: The Best Play

Per NBA.com/stats, the Oklahoma City Thunder had a pace of 98.35.  That basically means the Thunder averaged 98.35 possessions per 48 minutes (i.e., per game, notwithstanding overtime). What this tells me is that the Thunder had over 8,064 possessions this season. And I’m here picking the supposed “best” play. That being said, if you think I missed one, please post it in the comment section and tell me how much I failed at life.

However, to guard against any embarrassment from missing an obvious amazing play, I’ve picked six sweet plays as the best plays of the year. Let’s count them down.

6) Steven Adams dishes to Russell Westbrook who tosses the alley-oop to Andre Roberson.

How about this for teamwork? Adams launches a picture perfect outlet to Russ who then throws it up for Roberson to throw it down.

5) Roberson posterizes Anderson Varejao.

Roberson is an underrated dunker. This dunk, however, is so memorable that Varejao is still having nightmares about it. Off the no-look feed from Westbrook, Roberson drives hard and puts Varejao on a poster.

4) Westbrook hosts a one-man dunk contest with the incredible reverse.

Against the Magic, Kevin Durant grabs the loose ball and throws it up ahead to a streaking Westbrook. Russ, with a flair for the dramatic, does an in-game reverse dunk that sends Durant skipping with glee.

3) Durant dunks all over Marcin Gortat.

Hello, Gortat. Meet Durant. Now, see Durant dunk all over you.

three

2) Westbrook beats the Wizards.

While the Thunder are known for 35-foot end-game heaves, Westbrook bucks the trend and cuts straight to the basket to sink the Wizards in dramatic fashion.

two

1) Russ goes coast-to-coast against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Russ is really fast.
