Thunder select Steven Adams with the No. 12 overall pick

To finally complete the James Harden trade, the Thunder selected seven foot center Steven Adams with the 12th overall pick.

According to multiple reports, the Thunder attempted to move up to No. 1 or 2 at the last minute in an effort to select Victor Oladipo, but failed in their effort. With that not working out, they took the best player available that filled their biggest needs. Other players on the board: Kelly Olynyk, Shabazz Muhammad, Sergey Karasev among a few others.

In the end it’s Adams, a New Zealander with a big personality, who is a bit of a project, but might have some of the highest upside of any big man in the draft. Prepare to preach patience.

More to come later.
