The Thunder made it through its ‘gauntlet’ start to the season. It wasn’t pretty and boy were there some casualties. But the best part? — it’s OVE… wait.
*Listening…
I’m being told the Sacramento Kings are 5-1 and have wins over the Clippers, Blazers, and Suns. I’m also being told Demarcus “BOOGIE” Cousins comes in to the Peake tonight averaging 24 ppg and 11 rpg and ranks fifth in the league in win shares per 48 minutes.
Another surprising bright spot for the Kings early on has been the play of Rudy Gay — 22.2 ppg, 6.7 rpg (I know, I’ve already written like 50 words I never thought I would).
All that to say, Oklahoma City is facing a much different Kings team.
Friday night against Memphis the Thunder put forth an inspired effort coming up just short, or a couple inches to the right of sending the Grizzlies home with its first loss of the year.
Jeremy Lamb’s debut was fine one. 17 points against that defense, mainly Tony Allen and Courtney Lee was a welcomed sight for Thunder fans. More of that please.
Wait, how am I 200 words into this and I haven’t mentioned that no one got hurt the whole game?
*clears throat… NOT ONE THUNDER-ER GOT HURT THE ENTIRE GAME.
It gets better Thunder fans – It’s been reported that Anthony Morrow could make his season debut tonight, which would give the Thunder another option off the bench or possibly in the starting unit. REMINDER: Morrow is naughty from beyond the arc — shot 46 percent last season.
Friday’s COTN: “Royce kidnap Izzy, I’m tired of him” – @The Adams Family
TBH: I like Izzy, but just the mental GIF of El Capitan diving over press row and swiping that ESPN mic to interview Brooks was plenty to earn @TAF the nod here.
(If you’d like to nominate a comment for the COTN, simply respond to the ones you like and mention me with the #COTN. It’s hard for me to get through all of the comments and I don’t want to miss any that you guys and gals feel are worthy nominees. Thanks!)
