Stephen A. Smith: “I don’t think anybody, to be quite honest with you,” Smith said. “Obviously the New York Knicks would be in the mix and what have you. But there are folks that I’ve spoken to that are relatively close to Kevin Durant that tell me if he were to decide to leave Oklahoma City, it would be for the nation’s capital. That’s the kind of dude he is. That’s a place that he would consider. I certainly don’t want to sit here as a reporter and insider and try to give indications that he’s planning on leaving Oklahoma City,” Smith said. “I don’t know that to be sure. I don’t know that to be the case. But I was told that if there is a team that would be strongly considered, it is the Washington Wizards, and him returning home.”
Bill Simmons: “I surfed a few Lakers blogs and message boards and found similar ambivalence. Some fans wanted him, others didn’t understand the point. Many felt like the rationally irrational Lewis — they wanted the Lakers to land a top-five lottery pick (if it’s lower than that, it goes to Phoenix), wipe Nash’s expiring contract off their cap, then make a run at the Kevins (Love in 2015, Durant in 2016). That’s a smart plan, except (a) they could easily stink and STILL lose that 2015 lottery pick,2 (b) Love will probably get traded this season (and might like his new team), (c) nobody knows what Durant wants to do, and (d) nobody knows if the post–Dr. Buss Lakers are still a destination franchise.”
Caron Butler says KD is his favorite teammate ever.
Berry Tramel: “But Morrow can shoot and Morrow can score. If you still don’t believe that, here’s a way to convince you. I think we all can agree that Caron Butler is a professional scorer. In 12 NBA seasons, Butler has averaged 15.1 points a game. Butler is a two-time all-star. He came to the Thunder last March and averaged 9.7 points a game coming off the bench. Butler is a solid shooter who also can drive. A well-rounded offensive player. In his NBA career, Butler has averaged 16.2 points per 36 minutes; 0.4 points more than Morrow per 36 minutes. When Anthony Morrow plays, Anthony Morrow scores. And he does so efficiently.”
Mitch McGary was on Jim Rome and talked about some interesting things.
KD signed a deal with Sparkling Ice. And let me tell you that stuff is DELICIOUS. “I’ve always challenged myself on the basketball court, but this offseason is really the first year I’m challenging myself off of it — on the business side,” Durant told ESPN.com. “This is a brand I drink every day that I love and I wanted to be a part of it. I want to help them get to the next level.”
