Westbrook + others to rest Tuesday
Per Erik Horne of the Daily Oklahoman, Russell Westbrook, Taj Gibson, Andre Roberson and Doug McDermott will all rest tonight in Minnesota.
The Thunder will be without Westbrook for the first time this season, as he’s appeared in all 80 contests to date. With the 6-seed locked up and history behind him, the rest is necessary/deserved after a campaign that saw him carry an absurd 41.8% usage rate. It’s likely a safe bet to assume he is also out for Wednesday’s regular season finale in Oklahoma City against the Denver Nuggets. (They’ve experienced enough Westbrook as it is.)
Roberson and McDermott have both been dealing with knee soreness, so they will be receiving a breather ahead of this weekend’s playoffs. The 31-year-old Gibson gets a chance to freshen up headed into postseason play.
While the starters are yet to be determined, we can all expect a healthy dose of Semaj Christon. Just what the fan base has demanded more of.
